At a news conference held just before 5 p.m. ET, Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, confirmed that three explosive devices have hit Boston Monday afternoon; two at the marathon and a third at JFK Library. That third device has not been confirmed as being related to those at the marathon, but authorities have said they are treating it as if it is related.

CNN National Security Analyst Warns Of ‘Right-Wing Extremists’ Behind Boston Bombings. “CNN national security analyst Peter Bergen told host Jake Tapper on Monday that the explosions in Boston could be the work of Al Qaeda terrorists as much as they could be part of a planned assault by ‘right-wing extremists.’ Bergen said he was reminded of the Oklahoma City bombing, and that terrorism on the right could not be ruled out.”

12 dead, nearly 50 injured after 2 explosions rock Boston Marathon, law enforcement sources confirm

A federal law-enforcement source confirmed to The Post there are at least 12 dead and nearly 50 injured. Fox News reported that Massachusetts General Hospital was treating 10 people with amputated limbs and all operating rooms were on hold.
